The Trades Hall Council adopted .the report of a special committee recommending that the • Government be .asked to borrow £1,000,000 to erect .2000 houses, charging the tenants a rental of 5 per cent, on the capital outlay. , The chairman or the committee stated that the increase in rents ranged from 5 to 80 per cent., the average rise in the industrial suburbs being 24.22.
