BEARER

The South. Australian Railway Commissioner ;Kas revived from the statiohmaster : at' Mitcham the report of a plucky act at that station last week. As a train was pulling alongside the platform, a yciing. lady, Miss Telfer, slipped and fell from the platform on to the line, immediately in front of the incoming engine. "It was a certain case of being run over," continued the report, "but for the promptness of Dougias Tliorne, a bystander, who, lea.ping down, thrust the girl clear, and then rolled under the platform as flip engine ran by. Thome's action certainly savod Miss Telfer from being run over. It was an exceptionally plucky act, carried out with wonderful coolness and quickness.'
