LOW PRICES FOR FRUIT.

There has been a general dullness in the local market this week, and many lines of choice fruit have sold at low rates. Apples are - plentiful and cheap. Cox Orange Pippins,sold ; to-day from 6s; to Bs, Jonathans I (choice) 4s 6d to 55,, cookers 3s 6d to 4s. Ti/a^ peaches from Nelson and Motueka are coming forward, in large consignments, some choice lines selling to-day from 3s to 3s 6d per half-case, •but the bulk only realised 2s to 2s 6d., The next few days will probably see .the last of Motueka peaches, as the season is almost over. Plums, are sellving from 3s to 4s per half-case. Cape gooseberries realised 5d per lb; .Winter Cole pears^ 4s to 5s per halfcase, iahd: cookers 4s to 5s per case. Christchurch Marie Louise and Beurre de Capiamonts sold to-diay from 6s to 7s 6d per case. Blackberries were quitted - at 2d to 3d per lb. Localgrown grapes sold at 9d to lid per_lb. ; Nelson 7^d to lid. Quinces were in poor demand at 2s 6d to 3s per case.
