GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKETS

(Christchurch Press, Saturday). There is no change to be recorded in the local wheat market. There is not a very active demand for export, and buyers are only giying 2s lOd to 2s lid at country stations, according to distance. There is a fair quantity offering, and the quality is excellent. Oats arfc very firm and scarce, and increased supplies qannot apparently bo looked for locally. The market is likely to be ruled by Southland, which has the bulk of the oat crops available for coastal shipment or export. Oatsheaf chaff is without, change. Partridge peas are in good supply, and prices arc- fairly steady. The undermentioned are the prices paidl to farmers at country stations, free of commission, except where otherwise stated: —

Wheat.-—Old wheat, nominal ; new miling wheat 2s lOd to 2s lid, at country stations. Oats.—-New Algerians 2s to 2s 3d, Gortons 2s to 2s 2d, Duns Is lOd to 2s, at country stations.. Peas.—Partridge'3s M to 3s 7d, at country stations.

Flour.—£B 10s per ton. Bran— £3 15s, local £3 10s, f.0.b., per ton. Pollard.—£6 per ton.

O&tmeal.—2s's, £13 per ton. Oatmeal Chaff.—Now 655, at country stations. Onions.—3ss, at country stations. Potatoes.—Early varieties andUp-to-D»%es, £2 12s 6d to £2 15s, for immediato delivery, and £2 10s fpr April delivery at country stations.
