Lieutenant G. Willis, Officer Commanding the Wellington Highland Rifles, who left on Saturday for Marlborough, was entertained prior to his departure by the officers and N.C.O.'s (states The Dominion). Lieutenant Henderson, in presenting him with a case' of pipes and a cigarette' case, made complimentary reference to the work which Lieutenant Willis had done, specially mentioning the strides which the corps had made under his command. Lieutenant Henderson also referred to the great interest which Mrs Willis had taken in the corps, and to the many occasions on which members of the company had been her guests at their home at Island Bay. Lieutenant Henderson's remarks were seconded by Lieutenant Wilkinson, Color-Sergeant McDonald, and Mr Shannon. The toast of the guest was then drunk with musical honors. Songs were contributed by Lieutenants HenderaAi, Wilkinson, and Willis, and Sergeants Gardner and Ritchie. On Saturday the Highlanders were well represented on the wharf, and gave Lieutenant Willis a real hearty send-off.
