LAND SALE.
FLAXBOURNE ESTATE,
There was a very large attendance of farmers at the Town Hall at noon to-day, when Messrs Dalgety and Co., in conjunction with Messrs Levin and Co. offered a further portion of the Flaxbourne estate sub-division. After the conditions had been read the following lots were submitted: Lot 3, 479 acres.—This section was described as being subdivided into seven paddocks, one of which was ploughed and sown with English grasses. The others were nearly all ploughed and were sown with rape and English grasses. One section was not ploughed, but was ploughable. Bidding commenced at £10 per acre and rose in £1 bids to £17 I,os at which price it hung for a time, when 5s bids were accepted, the price being brought up to £18 by Mr Michael CaseyV who became the owner. Lot 2. 375 acres.—This land was described as being divided' into three paddocks, one of which was all ploughed, and sown with English grasses; the second was all ploughed and was in fallow, and the third nearly all ploughed, and was sowed with English grasses. This section was started at £1,0, and quickly rose to £11. £12, £13. £13 10s, £14. £14 10s, 3815, and £15 15s. No furthef bids being forthcoming this lot was knocked down to Mr M. J. Corrigan. of Canterbury, at the last-meritibned bid.
Lot 1, 316 acres 1 rood.—This land, it was reported, was sown with rape. Cape barley and English grasses, and was subdivided into six paddocks. The opening bid for this was £7, and it soon rose to £8, £9. £10 4 £11, £12, £12 ss, £12 10s. £12 15s, £13, £13 ss, £13 10s, £13 15s, and £14. Mr Corrigan became the owner of this section also at the last-mentioned amount.
It was announced at the conclusion of the sale that Messrs Clifford Bros. would show intending purchasers over the remaining portion of the estate at any time;
