GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKETS.

The local wheat market is very quiet, as growers are holding out for more money than buyers are inclined to give. Consequently but few sales are taking place. Millers are offering 2s lOd to 3s, at country stations, while exporters are only offering 2s lid, though 3s has been paid at handy stations. Some Australian wheat and flour has been coming lately into Auckland by the Craig line of sailing vessels

Oats are still being very sparsely

* offered', and sales are rare. Auckland j is purchasing Algerian oats from Auisftralia, and Hawke's Bay is also fcak- ! ing thtim. They will principally be for seed purposes. Oatsheaf chaq is firmer, and prices have advanced 5s per ton in some oases. The rates that are being paid! are, however, beyond export values. Up to 703 per ton has been paid even at distant stations. Grass .seeds of all kinds are firm, but beans are a little easier. " For potatoes £2 12s 6d to £2 los is being paid for immediate delivery, and £2 10s for delivery next month.
