OPAWA FOOTBALL CLUB.

The annual meeting of the Opiwa. Football Club was held in the' Club Hotel last night, there being a *v o od attendance of senior and junior members. Mr W.D. Draper presided. .. REPORT AND BALANCE-SHEET. The balance-sheetshowed that +.he club's liabilities over assets amounted to 13s. The receipts for the year were: Subscriptions for 1910, £5 2s 6d, five shillings collector for 1909 season—r£s 7s 6d. -Donations received amounted to £3^ 2s The receipts from tho annual, social were £14 3s, making the total receipts for the year £22 12sr6d. ' ' The expenditure was made up ac follows:—Subscription to Marlborough Rugby . Union, £3 3s k sundry accounts, £4 7s 6d; social, £12 5s 6d; balance, £2 16s 6d'. • The assets were shown as cash in hand £2 16s 6d, and the liabilities as £3 9s6d.

The report stated that the senior team, although very unfortunate at the commencement of the season/ in that the services of several players had been lost through accident, had played off with the Awatere.team in the cup final, and had been beaten only by a narrow margin. The juniors had played creditably, and bad trained well.. In this respect theybad set the' seniors a fine example. The financial position of.the club was satisfactory, but the, expenditure had been heavier than it was the previous year. The club had sustained the loss of a keen supporter and committeeman by the death of Mr Frank Costollo. .

Mr W. Morrison asked how many members the club. had.

The secretary said he had no list with him, but the playing members totalled 45.

. Mr G C. Griffiths asked what was tho subscription fee. #

The secretary replied that it was

5s for senior members and 2s 6d for juniors Mr Griffiths moved the adoption of the 'report and balance-sheet. He thought there should have been a larger amount collected in subscriptions, and pointed out that the senior players, alkwing that the club Had only the bare fifteen, would subscribe £3 15s, and the juniors should have subscribed a similar amount at '2s ocl each. He thought it a great pity that the revenue of th© club was not larger. He thought that, with the membership they had, there should have been a credit balance of £13 instead of a debit of 13s.

Mr Morrison said that there were two items in the balance-sheet which he would liko to know something about. He wanted to know when these amounts were paid, and who authorised their payment. The committee had not been called together once since the last annual meeting. The business of the club had been conducted in a lax manner during the last twelve months. 1 The secretary said that tne iast committee meeting was' held on June 10th r and Mr Morrison was not present..: There were ten members present. Mr Morrison said that that was not a committee meeting, but was the occasion upon which -Mr Oben had: been made a presentation. . The secretary said the social bal-ance-sheet, had been presented at this meeting/'1' Mr Martella asked if there had been a meeting of the committee called. Mr Morrison: "No." Mr Martella said there was another itom on which he desired a little information. It appeared from the balance-sheet that Mr A. E. Brunette donated 10s, and he bad been given to understand that Mr Brunette gave £1

is. ■ ' :.., - . ■ ■ .■•. . The Secretary said he received- only 10s fron. Mr Brunette. Mr Griffiths's motion not finding a seconder, Mr Martella moved, and Mr Hutchins seconded, that the report and balance-sheet be adopted subject to the approval of the committee Tho secretary asked1 if anyone had anything to say. There appeared to be something wrong somewhere. Mr Griffiths said that the trouble seemed to be that some of ther members had -not had an opportunity of going into the accounts paid. Mr Morrison said that that was the trouble.
