GREYMOUTH, March 9
The last meeting of the Grey Harbor Board decided to concede £1000 due for royalty from the old Brunner Mine many years ago, and accepting a bill for £500 at 12 months for the balance. This was strenuously opposed by Mr. Russell, Mayor of Greymouth, the only dissentient to the recommendation of the executive of the
Board.
To-day a mass meeting of the Wharf Laborers' Union was held, when the following resolutions was unanimously carried, complimentary reference being made to. Mr Russell's stand in this matter and also -"in the Borough Council regarding the bttHding; laws:—That thi& meeting of the Greymouth Wharf Laborers' Union strongly protests against the action of the Greymouth Harbor.Board in granting the alleged purchasers of the Brunner and St. Kilda mines £1000 concession on royalties due to the Board for many years, as the' Board was-not sufficiently .financial to warrant its making such a wholesle concession: and that 'the resolution be telegraphed to the Minister for Marine forthwith.
