At the Supreme Court in Wellington on Tuesday, before Mr Justice Chapman, Thomas Dockesey, alias Sharp, appeared for sentence on three charges of forging and uttering. The accused had come before the S.M Court at Blenheim on February 25th last. Ike three offences were committed at Blenheim and Picton, ■ all m January of this year. The accused handed his Honor a statement. Mr Neave said that very little was known of the prisoner. He had arrived from -England a little over a year ago He was twenty-eight years of age!- and was a clerk. His character, so far as the police could ascertain, was good. Had there been one charge against the prisoner said his Honor, he might have treated him very leniently. But the fact that he had committed several distinct offences seemed to show that he had adopted this course somewhat systematically. He would be detained for twelve months on each charge for reformative purposes the terms to be concurrent, which would mean that he would be detained for twelve months. If he behaved himself, the Prisons Board might release him earlier.
