IN HAWKE'S BAY

HASTINGS, March 8. Mr Sedgwick addressed the farmers last night on his scheme for introducing town lads to colonial farms ; and read a letter from the lads showing how satisfied they were with their improved conditions of life after their experiences in England. A feeling was expressed by the farmers present that 50 to 100 boys could be placed in Hawke's Bay. Mr Sedgwick lectutres in Taranaki, then in Christ-church" on March. 22nd, and the centres in the south at Easter. He hopes to have an opportunity to address the Labor Council in Christchurch on the effect on labor of organised and systematic settlement on the land
