• AUCKLAND, March 8. Mr Kettle, S.M., in giving judgment in a test case against the proprietor of a refreshment room charged with, a, breach of the Police Offences Act in supplying refreshments on Sunday aftemon, said1 that the Court, having been driven to hold1 that it was a work of necessity, in the meaning of Section 17, to supply meals in hotels, boarding houses, and refreshment rooms, no good end could be served by endeavoring to ascertain what number of meals or what kind of refreshments are necessary to the public and what are Hot, and disaiissed the information.
