SPRING CREEK ROAD BOARD

Tho Spring Creek Road Boae'rd met. - yesterday afternoon, the following members being present: : Messrs J. Gane (chairman), W. Gifford, F. Reelwood, C. Reeves, and W. Murray. . Mr H. Clieesman was granted ieave of absence FINANCE. The financial statement for the month showed a credit bank balance of £298 U Id. THE LINE TO WARD. The president of the Land and Railway League intinnated to the-.. Board that as the railway extension from Soddon to Ward would shortly be i ready for the official opening, the j members of the League thought that j something should be done to celebrate : it in a fitting manner.- In "order to | do this in a manner worthy of the oc- j casion, so as to impress the Minister for Public Works, it was suggested to hold a banquet, for which all local bodies would be .asked to donate some- ', thing. ;....'• ; It was decided to donate five guineas towards the fund. I THE COUNTIES ACT. :

The Minister for Public Works wrote informing the Board that its resolution to the effect that the Board should request the Government to suspend the Counties Act in Marlborou<;ii would receive careful consideration. WAIRAU BRIDGE. The Pel cms Road Board forwarded a cheque for £15 9s in payment of m-

teresi in connection with the Wairait bridge account. HOSPITAL CONTRIBUTION. The Wairau Hospital and Charitable Ai'Jl Board reminded the Board that the fourth instalment of the contribution due to the Hospital Board was due A cheque for the amount was passed. WAIRAU BRIDGE COMMISSION. Mr Short, Commissioner, notified the Board that the Wairau Bridge Commission had been postponed from March 10th until April 3rd. HELD OVER. It wac resolved that the question of the road along the Wairau River be left over until the next meeting if the. Board. Mr Murray offered to pay rent for the portion which he held. ACCOUNTS. Accounts totalling £92 14s lid were passed for payment. The Board then adjourned.
