HOKITIKA, March 6. The Fire Brigades' competition commenced on Saturday in splendid weather. Results:—
Dry Coupling: Masterton, 38 seconds, 1; Dunedin South, and Hokitika, 39 2-oth seconds, a tie for second place. Sixty team** competed. One Man Manual: Timaru 37 l-sth seconds 1; Hokitika, 2; Dunedin City 3. There were 24 competitors. The fire brigades demonstration was continued this morning in perfect weather.
Dunedin City defeated1 Hokitika hi the run off for second place in the hose and hjdiant dry for two men. Final reel and ladder (fire men): Timaru. 59 3-ssec, 1; Invercargill. 61 4-ssec, 2; Onehunga, 62 2-ssec, 3. "Wanga-nui, 63 4'ssec.. 4. HOKITIKA, March 7. There is splendid weather for the Fire Brigades Competitions. Results :—
Manual Engine Event: Carterton (48 2-ssec) 1, Napier 2, Hastings 3. Rescue Event: Dunedin City (23 sec) 1, Napier 2, .Greymouth 3. Dunedin and Napier tied, Dunedia winning the run-off. .
Ladder Race (one man): Dunediu City 1, Masterton 2, Wiaimate 3.
