LONDON MEAT MARKET.

Messrs Dalgety and Co. report as follows:— ...-.."

Market in General: There has been a considerable amount of speculative buying in both mutton and lamb since our last report, at prices id to id per lb. in advance of last quotations. The legitimate output (i.e. 'to the retail butcher) shows no improvement, but the attitude of holders, who are few, seems to warrant the advance in price, which appears likely to continue for some weeks.

Frozen Mutton: Prices must be quoted |-d to £d up. Light carcases are in better demand than, heavies.

Frozen Lamb: Prices have advanced fd to id per Ib. Demand is slow "off the hooks," and it is difficult to average quoted prices. Frozen, Beef: Owing to shorter supplies of chilled, frozen quarters have to-day advanced to £d per lb in price. There is a better demand for best grades of beef.
