THE BAND CONTEST.
COMMENCES TO-NIGHT,

WANGANUI, March 14
Most of the bands taking part in the band contest, which commences to-night, havp arrived, three coming in by the midday trains. The contest will be held in the racecourse grounds, where visiting bandsmen will to-mor-row be entertained at a garden party. Should wet weather be experienced the competitions will be held in the opera house. There are a large number of visitors in town.
