HATCHMAN KILLED.

WELLINGTON, Mar. 14. A fatality occurred on board the Wimmera on Satxirday, whereby Alexander Morris, who was acting as hatchman at No. 1 hatch, was killed. The steamer was taking in wheat at the time. Morris was standing at the side of the hatch, his foot resting on the combings, when a sling of sacks toiiched him on the leg. He overbalanced, and was thrown heavily into the hold, and in his fall struck the combings of the 'tween decks. He was raised to the upper deck at once, but died before he reached the wharf. The deceased Avas an old identity of Lyttelton. He leaves a widow, three sons, and four daughters.
