"OLIVETTE."

The Pollard combination lowered the curtain to their Blenheim season last night with the production of Audran's famous opera ""Olivette." There was a good audience at the Town Hall, and the piece was rendered in a manner which appealed to the hearts of the people . "It was just beautiful" was the remark passed on all sides, and there seemed numbers who lingered after the conclusion of the last act, and appeared as though they longed for more and were loth to go without having that longing satisfied. The singing of Miss Cissie O'Keefe, Miss Minnie Topping and Mr Charles Albert was very fine, and the choruses incidental to the piece were excellently rendered. It would be impossible to do too much credit to the performers, who each and all set the hall-mark upon their fame as far as a Blenheim audience is concerned, and it is safe to say that when Mr Tom Pollard next comes this way there will be a great welcome in store for him and his fine company. The Pollards leave for the West Coast to-day, and will play there during Easter.

There is no doubting the fact that the Marlborough cycling public is particularly well catered for, and there is also little doubt that for the excellent service provided in this line Messrs Wintringham and Deugarde, of the Blenheim Garage (alongside Town Hall) are mainly responsible. This firm make a special point of catering perfectly for every branch of the trade, and just at present, in order to show the excellence of their cycle repair department, they are making a display in their showroom window of repair and replacement parts for different makes of bicycles. The firm claim that, through having the beat assorted, stock of cycle parts and accessories, they are.in a position "to effect any repair to any cycle without any vexatious delay," and judging by the display shown we should say that that claim is a very modest one indeed. ■ ~*i
