WHEAT AND WOOL
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, are in receipt of the following cable advice from their London office, dated ■Bth instant:— There was a good attendance at the opening of the sales to;day,.competition by Home and foreign buyers being active. The opening catalogues were fairly representative. As compared with last sales' closing rates, prices are about the same for fine and medium crossbred; prices are lower about par to 5 per cent, for coarse crossbred; prices are higher about o per cent, for greasy merino. America is buying suitable lots of crossbreds.
[press association.] LONDON, March 9. The American visible supply of wheat is 52,000,778 bushels. Wool is strong of sale at opening rates. Competition is more general. Copper, spot £60 3s 9d per ton, three months £61 2s 6d; tin, spot £114 7s 6d, three months £149 7s 6d; lead £13 ss. ' Wheat: A cargo of Australian sold at 37s 10id- . ortO , At the tallow auctions 898 casks were offered and 825 sold. Mutton, fine 36s 9d, medium 34s 6d; beef, fine 36s 6d, medium 345. (Received March 10, 11 p.m.) LONDON, March 10. Copper, spot £60 2s 6d per ton, three months £61 ss; tin, spot £147 ss, three months £149 10s. At the wool sales the Kawakawa clip sold at lid and lOfd.
