Dr Frengley (Health Officer) wrote in reference to the "rubbish depot in Wellington Street. , The Town Clerk reported that he and Mr John Duncan,/M.P, had recently waited upon the Minister for Marine on the matter. The'suggestion he had made to the Hon. Mr Millar 'that 'the Railway Department, having the available material, should fill in the hole, and when the title deeds of the property were.hand•ed.over to the Council, that body | should compensate the Department for the cost of the work. The Minister appeared to consider the proposal in a favourable light, and suggested that it ba.submitted to him in .writ-, ing. . : } . Foreman Branch submitted a detailed report of the works completed, in hand, and to be proceeded with. He recommended that a road plough and scoop be procured.—On Councillor, Fell's, motion, it wa? decided'that Dublin!; Street be "put in order, and the*, kerbing attended to. Inspector Johnston reported that three cases of diphtheria had been notified 5 as having occurred durings the past month,, and stated that if all the drainage connections were to be completed by December 16th; it would be necessary to have the work put in hand at once. ~ ;
