HAND-MADE CIGARETTES.

MANUFACTURE WITHOUT WARRANT. [PRESS ASSOCIATION.] DUNEDIN, June 14. In the Police Court this morning, George Moody, tobacconist, was charged with making cigarettes by hand without having a warrant to do so. The Collector of Customs said that the defendant had employed a cigar-ette-maker to make cigarettes in his window during Industries Week. The Customs looked upon the manufacture of cigarettes without warrant as a serious matter, as when tobacco was cut up it was impossible to trace where it came from.

The defendant pleaded ignorance of the law on the matter, and said that he had made no attempt to make cigarettes secretly. A fine of £10 and costs was imposed.
