ON A VISIT TO CHRISTCHURCH

CHRISTCHURCH, May 12
Sir Joseph Ward arrived in this ■city last night, and spent a strenuous 'da.j to-day. Deputations assailed him from 10.80 a.m., one asking help for rifle clubs, and another discussing the best means of suppressing immoral literature. He was also interviewed by members of Parliament and priyate persons on various subjects. He visited Canterbury College and met the Board of Governors, and drove to New Brighton, where the municipal authorities brought several matters under his notice. To-night he will attend a social to Mr T. H. Davey, M.P., and to-morrow he will present diplomas, etc., in connection -with Trinity College of Music.
