ON TRIAL AT DUNEDIN

PLEADS GUILTY TO FORGERY

DUNEDIN, May 3. Amy Maud Bock was charged in the Police Court to-day that she did, on or about January 4th, 1909, commit forgery by forging the name of John Roy to a receipt for £92, and uttering the same to Arthur Ellis. The accused's solicitor asked that she might be allowed to have a chair with her back to the audience, but Mr Widdowson declined the request. The accused pleaded guilty, and said: ."I would like to express my thanks' to the police for the kind way in which they have carrieU out their duties in this matter, and also to thank Mr and Mrs Roy for the kindness with, which I was treated when in service with them."

Chief Detective Herbert said that three other cases were to be preferred against the accused. His Worship said: "The accused will be committed to the Supreme Court for "sentence. The question of bail can come up when the other cases are heard." The accused was then charged with receiving £41 from Margaret Henderson by means of false pretences, and was remanded till Friday.
