FLEMINTGON, Feb. 29. There was dull weather for the opening day of the V.R.C. autumn week. The reserves looked splendid, and the course was in good order. The State Governor and a large crowd were present, but the attendance was not equal to last year. , ! A good field turned out for the opening race, and with the exception of a spill it was a good race. Portcullis fell arid brope his shoulder, and had to be shot. Little excitement was centred on the St. Lleger, the result being fully expected. Mountain King was in fine fettle, and had his own way from the start.
