The Hon. Mr-McNab, Minister for Lands', will visit Westland next month. ; A Hokitika Press Association telegram states that Mr H. L. Michel, who has been connected with the Hokitika Volunteer Fire Brigade for over a quarter of a century, and has occupied the captaincy for many years, has tendered his resignation to the Brigade, owing to his civic andt fire insurance interests being affected by the new Fire Brigades Act. General regret is expressed at the resignation, after such long public service in on© of the most popular of local institutions. A Press Association telegram from Timaru states that Admiral Fawkea and Lady Fawkes arrived there yesterday afternoon. They were met by the Mayor and Commander Bentinck, of H.M.S. Prometheus. The party j were entertained at lunch, and taken j for a motor drive. Afterwards they were accorded a public welcome. The Admiral and party left for MountCook later in the afternoon. During their visit the Admiral's flag was flown from the cruiser Prometheus, afc present in the harbour. This was the first occasion on which such a flag was flown in Timaru.
