[press association.] (Received Sept. 25, 7.22 a.m.)
LONDON, Sept. 24
On the occasion of the ceremony of unveiling the portrait of Michael Davitt in the Roscommon County Council buildings, Mr John McGreevy, a prominent Labourite who was among the public present, declared that the Irish party had degraded into a penny-in-the-slot machine, the directory at Dublin holding the key.
This caused an ouproar, and several fights occurred between Councillors and the public.
The police eventually ejected those who caused the disturbance.
