SEARCH FOR THE EANGITGTO'S COPPER.

[PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, July 27. The wreck of the steamer Rangitoto {which saiik off Jackson's Head, Queen Charlotte Sound, in 18.78) was recently visited by a diver in search of the cargo of copper plates which -she -was supposed to carry. The steamer was found overgrown with kelp. The engines were in a remarkable state of preservation, but were thickly encrusted with submarine growth. No copper was found, but the afterhold, contained a large quantity of liquor of various sorts. Some was sampled, and, with the exception of the brandy, was found to have am-, proved by the submersion. * .'
