Mr j. A. Gilruth, Chief Veterinarian, returned from a visit to Britain and Europe last Tuesday.

Mr and Mrs W. Fryer, of Blenheim, celebrated their silver wedding on Saturday last and -received hearty congratulations and wishes for a prosperous future, and a golden wedding.

Mr H. D. Vavasour, President of the Marlborough Racing Club, has been in Wellington attending the Racing Conference. Mr Vavasour moved two unsuccessful motions on behalf of North Canterbury country clubs; and seconded a motion to set up a permanent inquiry tribunal of five, proposed by Sir George Cliiford, President. This motion, however, was not proceeded with.

The death of Mr Thos. Gilmore occurred at Redwoodtown yesterday afternoon, at the age of 66 years. Deceased had been ailing for about eighteen months, having been weakened constitutionally at the beginning of that period by an attack of rheumatic fever. The date Mr Gilmore came to the Wairau about 20 years ago, on the death of his father-in-law, Mr Joseph Scott, the founder of Scott and Co's business. He leaves a widow and several sons and daughters, mostly engaged in the pastoral industry.
