ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.

A DISAPPOINTED LOVER

CAMBRIDGE, June 7. Jerome Furlong, a lamplighter, has been arrested on » charge of attempted suicide and wounding James McLennan, his brother-in-law. The accused, a young man, cam© from Auckland, where he had made an attempt on his life. It appears that a girl at Cambridge had refused to " walk out " with Furlong, who declared tliat he would soon settle the matter, and proceeded to his brother-in-law's house, where he seized a razor and tried to cut his throat. McLennan, in attempting to disarm i man ' was °adly cut about. Furlong was tied to a chair by the neighbours, and handed over to the police.
