A wedding of local interest was solemnised on Thursday last at the Havelock MethSdist Church by the Rev. W. B. Scott, the bride being Miss Emily Foston (daughter of the late Mr Charles Foston, of Sydenham, Christchurch, and sister of the Revs. C. and H. Foston, Methodist ministers at Kiverton and "Rahotu respectively), and the bridegroom, Mr Thomas Edward Lovell (son of the late Mr Alfred Lovell, one of Havelock's early settlors). The bride was given away by Mr : Fraiik Pope, sen., and.woro-a dress of blue cloth trimmed witlrwhite^piece. lace and chiffon, with white felt hat trimmed with white chiffon an,d blue velvet. Her bridesmaids were Miss Lovell, who wore a. navy blue cloth skirt, Eton coat, white silk vest, and large picture hat; and Miss Jessie Pope, who wore a dress of navy blue spotted silk voile, trimmed witli white silk and piece lace, and picture hat. Mr James Lovell supported the bridegroom. The guests were entertained at afternoon tea by Mr and Mrs Frank Pope, sen., when the principal toa6t was proposed by the Rev. Scott, that of the "Bridesmaids," by Mr James Lovell, and the "Host and Hostess," by Mr John Wilson. The bridegroom presented his bride and the bridesmaids with gold and gem brooches, and a large number of presents were received by the bride and bridegroom from a large circle of friends and wellwishers. Mr and Mrs Lovell remain residents of Havelock. Mr B. Wilkinson, who, some three months ago. had the misfortune to loose his small trader "Tuariki," by a capsize and founder off Paradise Bay, Pelorus Sound, has purchased the Flirt, a handy little motor-driven i craft, and will resume trading in the Pelorus Sound.
