AWATERE ROAD BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of this Board was held on Monday last, all the members being present. Messrs W. Pollard and A. McCallum waited on the Board on behalf of tho Marlborough International Exhibition Cpmmittee, and peinted out that, to make the Marlborough court a success, more funds would be required. —The Board granted a further donation of £15.

Mr H- Valla nee interviewed the Board with reference to a section held by him at Flaxbourne. He wished to exchange his section for one in the occupation of the Board.—Messrs Meehan and Cunningham were deputed to inspect the sections in question, and report at the next meeting. The Picton Borough Council wrote for information of the capabilities of the Board's rock-crusher, and asked if it cpuld be hired.—The Secretary was instructed to supply the necessary information.

Mr Rutherford, M.H.R., wrote, inquiring if a Government grant of £100 had been expended in the northern end of his electorate.—Resolved to reply that the Board had no knowledge of it, the vote being issued to the Roads Department. A letter was received from the Harbour Board Committee asking for a contribution to the preliminary expenses in connection with the Harbour Board Bill.—Resolved to reply that the Board could not see \ '\ way to vote any money for such a purpose. It was resolved that all the members of the Board join with other Boards to Wait on the Minister when the Blenheim railway station is opened, to urge that the traffic manager be stationed in Blenheim; also to point out that a station-master is required at Seddon, and that more rolling stock is required on the line. Messrs Moore and Henderson were granted a lease of a piece of unused read from year to year at a peppercorn rent, providing they keep it clear of rabbits. Permission was given G. E. Parsons to remove a gate he has across the road to a more convenient place, subject to the approval of the Inspector. The Land Board asked for the consent of the Board to open up a right of way between sections 5 and 6, Town of Seddpn,, to give access to the Town Hall.—Agreed to. The Secretary was instructed to interview the Commissioner of Crown Lands and ascertain the conditions on which an extra width of road could be obtained on the south side of the Ure river. The application of W. G. Chisnall, to have the names of G. and C. Kelland substituted in lieu of his on the valuation roll for s.g.r. 135, was approved. It Avas resolved that a rate of &th of a penny in the £ be levied on the unimproved ratable value. The special order making by-laws to regulate heavy haulage traffic was confirmed. A resolution was passed that the Wairau Hospital Board be informed "that this Board intends to deduct the sum of £117 4s 6d from its next quarterly contribution to the Hospital Board, being the amount of a special rate levied by the Hospital Board during the year 1904-1905. A renewal of a slaughter-house license was granted to F. Sharp. It was decided to call foi' tenders for the erection pf a footbridge over the Awatere rivor at the Jordan, and that applications be invited for supplying two 3-horse teams for one year for road-metalling. Accounts for £471 13s were passed for payment.
