In the Federal House Mr fliggins called attention to the French Commission's report, cabled yesterday, recommending an annual grant (or the benefit of settlers in the New Hebrides, and asked Mr Deakin to see that the Australia* Government was consnlted before tbe New Hebrides Land Court was appointed.

Mr Deakin replied that there was every reason to believe the course suggested would certainly be followed. The Imperial Government negotiations regarding the suggestsd Land Court had been inordinately prolonged, there being so far nothing to show that any progress had been made. The proposals of the French Commission contained no novel feature, but they called attention once more to the fact that considerable sums were being expended out of French funds for the benefit of settlers in the New Hebrides. Suoh an arrangement had been imminent from the date of the friendly agreement with France.
