DUNEDIN WOOL SALES.

Dunedin, February 3.

The third wool sale opened this morning. One firm catalogued 940 bales, of which only 81 were passed. The result is considered very satisfactory, considering the decided decline in the market since the last sale. For pieces and bellies excellent rates were real* ised. There was an average drop in crossbred wools from $d to f d.^ Halfbreds were much on a par with last aale. The demand for merinos was, if anything, better than at the last sales. Averaee prices dropped £d to Id. The tnp pri<es were lOfd for cros«breds, IOJd for half bred*, and lOd for merinos, though no choice lines were offered in the latter class. Later* At the wool sales the offerings totalled 6430 bales, or sltghtly below the corresponding sale 1 >s<; year. There wan a good attend nee of buyers, and bidding was animated for fin"- wools bach as super half bred and merino, which realised the same rates as last gale, on January 13th. The drop in erosnbred wool was estimated from fd to lsd. The top prices so far are: Mfirino llfd, balfbred llfd, crossbred 10£ d per lb.
