EARTHQUAKE IN VICTORIA.
ALARMING RESULTS.

Press Association. Electric Telegraph, Copyright. Received July 15,10.35 a.m, Melbourne, July 15* There was a severe earthquake at Hlowa, in the western district, lut night. Wooden buildings were Violently shaken and bettleß dislodged from shelves. It appeared to travel from northwest to southwest, and lasted several seconds. Shocks, occurring at the eaase time, were felt at Camperdown, Bivemook, Princetown, Peterborough, Newfleld, Scott's Creek, and Port Fairy.
At Warrnambool the shook, was even greater in intensity than that experienced in April, though not so pro* longed. The entire community was thrown into a state of alarm by the terrifying rumbling noises, aocompanied by a shock, which lasted four seconds. Women ran screaming into the street.
Greater damage was done than on the former visitation. Plaster of ceilings fell, and cornices of ornaments of public buildings were hurled to the ground. Three crosses on St. John's Presbyterian Church fell into the churchyard, A large iron water-tinfc at an hotel was twisted round oa itt foundations and burst.
