, The Awarua and Rival teams met at Spring Creek, and on this occasion the latter claimed a win by six points, a try and a penalty goal, to four points, a goal from a mark. The Wairau and KorOmiko teams were to have played in town, but the latter had only a part of their team, and as soon as the Wairaus had scored a try, which was unconverted, abandoned the game.
A practice match was afterwards played. It is a great pity that the match was practically forfeited at the last minute. The Koromiko players who stayed away acted very unfairly to the rest of their club mates, seven or eight of whom travelled up to keep their engagement, only to find their trouble was in vain.
