Sir Clements Markham, President of the Royal Geographical Society, at the anniversary dinner of the Society, said no one had surpassed Captain Scott's
brilliant and difficult journey, and his important discoveries in the Antarctic regions.
The Society, the President added, was appealing to the Government for funds in aid of the relief expedition, and he believed the response would be favorable.
