THE CENSURE DIVISION.
EeceiT«d October 3, 9.30 a.m. Stsnxt, September 3. The censure division was taken at lire this morning, Mr Carruthers' motion being rejected by 72 to 39. After a speech by Mr MoGowen, leader of the Labor Party, wherein he justified, the action of the AttorneyGeberal as in conformity with the basic principles of trial by jury, the result was a foregone conolnsion the party voted solid with the Government. Mr Sleath was removed for defying the 'Chair.
Melbourne, October 3. The debate on the Defence Estimates disclosed that a majority favored farther reduction. Leaders of the Labor Party and the Opposition rupported a reduction of the vote to £700,000. Mr Lyric there*
upon announced he was prepared to 1 reduce bom about December In a pxoportion of £62,00 C yearly, next year bringing down the Estimates with a similar redaction. On this nnderstanding the vote passed.
