The Manawatu Racing Club has received 20 competitive designs in connection with the erection of a grand stand on the new course at Awapuni. Designs were received from architects resident on both islands.

Owing to the downpour of rain to-day the military sports and sham fight in aid of the Veterans' Home fund was postponed for a week. A concert will be held to-night, with the presentation of war medals. The rain is very welcome for the mining community.
