Agnes Croker, who cut her throat last night, died early this morning.
Wanganui, October 1.
A local syndicate is arranging for the importation of several motor-car omnibuses, to run between Wanganui and suburbs. The busses are expected in a few months. They are of the latest and most up to-date type, costing £1000 each, and carrying 30 to 40 passengers.
Ashbukton, October 1.
Owing to the high prices ruling for stock butchers have raised the price o£ meat by "one halfpenny per lb.
Gisborne, October 1.
The movements of the Samuel Plimsoli are not expected to be decided till to-morrow, but probably she will be towed to Auckland by the Omapere. Captain J affray is in communication with his owners.
Stratfobd, October 1.
The new residence of John Perrott, Nash Koad, was destroyed by fire last night. Little was saved. The insurances are unknown.
Palmerston N., October 1.
The Manawatu Racing Club has received 20 competitive designs in connection with the erection of a grand stand on the new course at Awapuni. Designs were received from architects resident on both islands.
Hokitika, October 1.
Owing to the downpour of rain to-day the military sports and sham fight in aid of the Veterans' Home fund was postponed for a week. A concert will be held to-night, with the presentation of war medals. The rain is very welcome for the mining community.
