In the Cape Assembly Sir Gordon Sprigg indigr antly resisted Mr Crewe's resolution in favor of the early registration of voters and a general election in June, remarking that what was wanted was to expel him from office.

Dr Smartt denounced Sir Gordon Sprigg's unconstitutional selling of the Progressive party like Joseph by his brethren into bondage. It was his duty to appeal to the country. The resolution was negatived by 43 t» 24.
