A LOAN POLICY CONDEMNED.
Received October 1,9.39 a.m. Melbourne, October 1. In Committee of Supply, Sir George Turner asked the Federal House to give a test vote as to whether a works loan of half a million should be authorised.
Mr Watson moved a reduction of the first item, and the majority of speakers declared against borrowing.
A test division resulted in the House, by 30 to 15, declaring against a loan policy.
