Anti-Semites and Catholics rejoice in their newspapers at Zola's death, and speak bitterly of the departed novelist.
The Pope exclaimed: "If Zola was the Church's enemy he was frank. God rest his soul!"
London, September 30.
Widespread regret at Emile Zola's death is shown in Britain and Italy, owing to his having championed Dreyfus.
