The Chronicle, commenting on the Blue Book, says that the broad grounds on which Mr Chamberlain upholds the Commonwealth Parliament on the Kanaka question imply that the self governing colonies are practically independent of the Motherland in everything except defence.
The Standard says that, real as the difficulty is, there is no excuse for Queensland's secession.
