The Education Board today discussed the subjects to bo dea!fc with by the Education Conference at Wellington with a view to instructing their delegate- It w.is decided to recommend the Conference to approve of the Government granting the same subsidit>s for secondary education to High Schools as are given to District High School*; that the 2s Gd increase under the Teachers' Salaries Act, 1901, be pLaced in the hands of tho Board pro rata to meet the following expenses : — An increase when judged expedient to teachers of smaller schools, payment of sewing mistresses where necessary, conveyance of pupils living a long dls tance from schools, to provide for relieving teachers, and any other object connected with the better staffing of the schools. The Board also soprcesied increasing the incidental prant from 11s 3d to 12s or 12s 3d. With these additions to the revenue th"* Board could carry on comfortably. The Board is asrainst the periodic exchange of Inspectors,
