The Agricultural Department have purchased the New Zealand rights of the indelible brand for meat patented by T. H- Brown and J. E. Staples, both of Wellington.

A good deal of inconvenience has been caused by breaks in the telegraph wire, and the linemen have had a rough time out in the snow making repairs. It will be about a week before the repairing work is completed. Communication with Napier was interrupted after 11 o'clock on Wednesday night, but eventually the staff with some difficulty and breaks was able to obtain the purport of cables and messages for the Times from Napier by telephone, though all attempts by aid of telegraphy failed. To-day the wire was working well.
