A NEW STEAMER. [UNITED PIUSES ASSOCIATION.] Auckland, April 13. At a fire at Karangahake Mrs Quinn's chest of drawers was removed into the street, and £92 m notes stolen therefrom. Dunedin, April 13. The Union S.S. Company has re* csived an intimation of the sailing of the new steamer Moana from Glasgow for Sydney direct on the 10th. The Moana is specially built to re* place the Monowai m the San Francisco trade. An application was made to Mr Justice Williams to day for an in* junction to restrain the proprietor of the Demc crat newspaper from printing or publishing a cartoon. The ap« plication was made by Andrew MacFarlane, aud evidence was given that the cartoon suggests improper influences hal bteu employed to secure for plaintiff's firm, a contract for the supply to the Benevolent Institution. His Honor refused to grant an irameJiate injunction as the cases were against a judge exercising such power except m extreme cases.
