+— — [UNITED PBESB ABSOOIATION 1 Auckland, April 15. A man named Alexander McDonald, storekeeper at Waimaukura, committed suicide on Sunday evening by taking strychnine. Deceased h said to have been drinking for some time past. After he had taken the strychnine he told his wife and a gumdigger, who was passing by at the time, of what he had done, and the usual remedies were applied, but without success, He loives a wife and five children, who, it is said, are totally unprovided for New Plymouth, April 14. An inquest was held on Tuesday at Huiraugi on the body of John Shore, aged 75, who was found m the : Waitara Eiver on Monday. The evidence showed that deceased had a ! weak intellect, and was given to wandering. The verdict was accidental death.
