Frederiok Thomas, for thirty years a confidential employe of the well-known shipping firm of Lorimer and Rome, sinoa bankrupt, was sentenced to three years imprisonment for embezzling moneys of the firm. The defalcations extend over a period of 27 years, and amount to £13,000. Hobabt, April 4. The revenue for the past quarter is £3,500 less than the amount received for the corresponding period last year. Adelaide, April 4. The Hon. Thomas Playford, Colonial Treasurer succeeds Sir J. 0. Bray, who has resigned the Agent -Generalship of the colony m London on acoount of ill-health. It is probable that the Hon. F. W. Holden, Commissioner of Publio Works, will take the portfolio vacated by Mr Playford.
