A LONDON LIBEL CASE.
♦- [united pbess association.] London, July 24. Mr J. Wilson is suing a London evening paper for £1000 for libel for accusing him of recklessly expending the funds of the Seamen's Union of which he is secretary. July 25. In his evidence m the libel suit, Mr Wilson admitted that looal securities to the extent of £2000 had been embezzled, also that the expenditure per annum on salaries and management amounted to nearly £20,000, before members of the Union derived any benefits. He also admitted that it was illegal to apply to the expenses of management £8,000 of subscription received for a speoial purpose.
