Merino. — The sales opened at an average deolineof about 5 per cent on last salea' closing rates. Crossbred.— The sales opened this day, prices ruling m buyers' favor. Attendance of both home and foreign buyers is good, and competition is fairly active. The total quantity available, including wool held over from last series, is 440,000 ; \ bales, 84,000 bales of which have . been forwarded to the manufacturing districts direct. ' I
