A COAL DISCOVERY.
[UNITED PBE3S ASSOCIATION.] Invebcabgili,, January 5. An important discovery of coal has been made on the Orepoki Company's lease. A Beam twenty- two feet recently opened cokes well, and produces splendid gas. Steps will immediately be taken to have exhaustive tests made at the Invercargill and Donedin gasworks. The mine is situated 40 miles from Invercargill and 20 from Aparima Biver on which Riverton stands.
